a brother and a sister
(music & lyrics Helena Cavan)
Female voice: Hi, my name is Caley and this is my brother Nathan. He’s ten and I’m seven, and we go to different schools. He knows lots about wars and read books to learn more.
Male voice: I’m building air fix and shooting toy guns.
Female voice: Mum’s given up trying to see his floor anymore.
Male voice: Yeah well, her room was messy, playmobil covered the floor (she interrupts) but not anymore.
Male voice: Ponies, plastic and stuffed, Flicka, Barbie ponies with lots of bits.
Female Voice (at the same time): I like to ride real ponies, Mill Farm ponies.
Together: I like to ride and play with ponies
Female voice: I like to bounce and I like to fly
Male voice: I like to climb the apple tree
Female voice: Trampoline puppies like to fly too. I swing from the apple tree upside down. I race on wibble wobbles (male interrupts) Didi cars. He thinks he knows lots about things, accuracy police (male interrupts) no I don’t. Accuracy police, brother Nathan. (female voice) Caley!
The Garden of Childhood
All seeds start small in the garden of childhood.
The oak it grows to many feet like inches in a shoe.
The rain it falls the sun it shines as food appears for meals.
He shouts she cries she screams he hides Together they build a den.
The tree it flowers the fruit it forms and swells upon the wood.
